Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This document is a template. Stephens Cooke & Associates should have it reviewed by a qualified data protection adviser before publication to confirm it reflects current practice.

Stephens Cooke & Associates ("we", "us" or "the practice") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have under the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Acts. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

When you complete the contact form on this website, we collect the details you choose to give us, typically your name, email address, telephone number and the message you send. We do not ask for special category data through the website, and you should not include sensitive financial information in a website enquiry.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

We use the information you provide to respond to your enquiry, to arrange a consultation and to provide the services you ask about. Our lawful basis for this is generally:

  • Your consent, when you submit an enquiry through the contact form.
  • The performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering a contract, where you become a client.
  • Our legitimate interest in responding to and managing enquiries about our services.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data only for as long as necessary to deal with your request. Where you do not become a client, we delete enquiry correspondence within a reasonable period. Where you do engage us, your data is retained in line with our professional and statutory obligations as chartered accountants, including the record-keeping periods required by Revenue and the relevant legislation.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for marketing purposes. We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the practice, for example, secure email and IT providers, who act on our instructions and under appropriate agreements. We may also disclose data where we are required to do so by law or by a regulatory body.

Cookies

This is a static website that aims to keep cookie use to a minimum. Any cookies used are intended to support the basic functioning of the site. Where non-essential cookies or analytics are introduced, we will ask for your consent and update this policy accordingly. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Have your data erased in certain circumstances.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.

How to request your data

To exercise any of these rights, or to ask a question about how we handle your data, email us at info@stephenscooke.ie or telephone 044 93 45900. We will respond within the timeframes set out in the GDPR. You can also write to us at our Mullingar office. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
